Kids may have mixed feelings about heading back to school, but we know one thing all kids agree on: Getting a fully-stocked new backpack is AWESOME.

More than 800 elementary, middle, and high school kids will start the school year in a few weeks with new backpacks and school supplies thanks to High Water Women, Allianz, World Vision, and Staples. Our amazing in-kind volunteer group spent the last few weeks stuffing, sorting, and distributing the backpacks to CV program sites throughout New York City and the lower Hudson Valley so that the kids can start the new year on the right foot.

The reactions of the kids receiving the backpacks were priceless. One first grader at P.S. 43 in the Bronx said, “This is the best present! My mom always gets me an ugly color book bag.” And another, giddy with excitement, said, “Is it OK if I just pass out right here?”
