NEW YORK, NY — May 14, 2013 – The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) presented The Children’s Village with its Annual Service Award for exemplary innovative service resulting in positive and successful outcomes for children. The award was presented to Jeremy Kohomban, President and CEO of The Children’s Village, at the organization’s annual conference in Washington, DC.
When asked about the award, Dr. Kohomban acknowledged the efforts of his staff, “This award really goes to the staff at The Children’s Village. Day in and day out, it is their hard work and commitment to children and families that drives our success.”
Dr. Kohomban was part of CWLA’s National Blueprint on Excellence in Child Welfare panel at the conference. Along with his co-presenters, Dr. Kohomban described the CWLA’s National Blueprint as a call to action for decisive leadership and a willingness to address difficult issues such as racial disproportionality, the improper use of residential care, and the need to make substantial investments in the few communities that typically account for the majority of children and families served in foster care. The conference is an annual event, and this year was entitled Making Children and Families a Priority: Raising the Bar.
