Family Reunification, Foster Families, Adoptive Families, and Treatment

We believe that children of all ages do best when they are with family.

Our Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program is internationally recognized serving youth with social/emotional challenges, blending cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior management training, family therapies, and community psychology to keep youth with their families.

The Children’s Village also provides Child and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS), which offers in-home behavioral health support and counseling, as well as Functional Family Therapy (FFT) as alternative therapeutic models to prevent a child’s or teen’s removal from the household.

When a child is placed in foster care, we work with the family to facilitate safe reunification. If reunification is not a viable immediate option, our 400 loving, supportive foster parents provide temporary care. Our foster parents receive extensive training, monthly financial support, and access to around-the-clock staff who are invested in their success. We stress the importance of co-parenting — foster parent and birth parents communicating and collaborating with the best interests of the child in mind. At our in-patient residential treatment center in Dobbs Ferry, teens requiring short-term sub-acute psychiatric care, medical, and mental health treatment have access to an extensive menu of mental health and physical health services that include recreational, vocational, and educational facilities to ensure successful treatment and a return to home, community, or a caring adult.

For 40 years our WAY Home program coaches have served as role models, advocates, and advisors, and support teens as they exit foster care and juvenile justice systems, helping them in their transition through early adulthood. WAY was one of the models that informed the creation of Fair Futures, cited as the most successful youth-led advocacy campaign in the history of child welfare. Fair Futures includes a robust middle school program that prepares students for success in high school and a coaching program that provides 1:1 coaching and tutoring to help young people achieve their academic, career development, and coaching for children from 9th grade through age 26.

Change a child's life.
