In late June, CV held its 14th annual Golden Heart Awards Ceremony at the Eastwood Manor in the Bronx highlighting the amazing work of our foster parents and caregiver families. These devoted people are a source of safety and unconditional love, and to them we say thank you!

The night was filled with music, dinner, and dancing. During the evening, we recognized several special people and presented awards.

The Aileen Loran Outstanding Foster Parent of the Year Award went to Israel and Tamika N. These incredible people have adopted three inspiring teenagers. This award was named after Aileen Loran, one of our foster parents who passed away several years ago. Aileen founded the “blended family cookout,” where she brought birth and caregiver families together in support of their children. Israel and Tamika are a testament to her memory.

The Kinship Foster Parent of the Year Award went to Zelma O. Zelma took in her son’s friend when he had no home and needed a place to stay. She has provided love, motivation, and a sense of safety. We applaud her and everything she does.

The Families Supporting Teens (FaST) Foster Parent of the Year Award went to Cathy-Ann R. Cathy-Ann has two teen girls and, despite many challenges, she is completely committed to her family. FaST serves older teens who are nearing the age of transition out of foster care and need support.

Following the awards, the music was turned up, and these committed people headed to the dance floor to celebrate the night.
