Liz Mark’s Sanctuary Fundraiser
ELIZABETH S. MARK
CELEBRATING 80 + YEARS OF LIVING and 50 + YEARS ADVOCATING
WITH A FUNDRAISER FOR THE SANCTUARY
Dear Friends,
As I celebrated my 81st birthday in September, I realized I have been advocating on behalf of Westchester County’s youth – as well as its seniors, its people with disabilities, and its immigrant populations – for more than fifty years. If you know me, you know that being a voice to better the lives of people on a variety of issues is embedded in my DNA.
The answer to the question “what do you want for your birthday?” has become clear. I want what all of us want: a safe and comfortable place that provides not just shelter, but comfort – a place that feels like home. In that spirit, I am asking you to join me in improving the recreational spaces at The Sanctuary at Children’s Village, Westchester County’s only shelter serving homeless and runaway youth ages 12-17.
I worked with many of you to create the Sanctuary back in the mid-1980s, and continuing as an active member of the RHY Advisory Board for years is one of my proudest achievements. I am equally proud of the Sanctuary’s continuous operation as a safe place serving young people in need for all this time.
To that end, I have created a special fund to be used for improvements to the Sanctuary’s yard and game room in celebration of all we have accomplished together. I invite you to join me in supporting this effort with a contribution making these needed recreational enhancements a reality. I look forward to the day in the not-too-distant future when we can gather to formally dedicate a spot where the Sanctuary’s teens can relax and enjoy themselves. Stay tuned!

With appreciation,
