CV Co-Develops New Inwood Library Building

Deeply Affordable Housing for Families

March 6, 2018: The Children’s Village is proud to announce that it — along with co-developers Community League of the Heights, Ranger Properties, and Alembic Community Development — will begin work on a new building for the Inwood Library in partnership with the New York Public Library, the New York City Department of Education, and the Robin Hood Foundation. The building will feature 175 deeply affordable apartments along with an onsite Activities, Culture, and Training (ACTS) Center and a brand new Pre-K for All facility that will be operated by the Department of Education.

In addition to the library, The Eliza, named in honor of Eliza Hamilton (an early supporter of the Inwood library), will feature a mix of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom, and three bedroom apartments that will be affordable to extremely low-, very low-, and low-income households. Housing will also be available to formerly homeless households. Building residents will have access to an onsite gym, tenant lounge, a kid’s playroom, a terrace, a roof garden, a bike room, and a laundry room.

“We are honored to be selected by the City of New York and the New York Public Library to be a co-developer of this important landmark project,” said CV’s President and CEO, Jeremy Kohomban. “Together with CLOTH, Ranger Properties, and Alembic we look forward to creating a beautiful space that is affordable, is welcoming, and provides opportunity for all families who need it.”
