Devan Ganeshananthan

Devan is an experienced and visionary educator with over two decades of leadership in independent and public K–12 schools across the United States and abroad. He currently serves as the Associate Head of School at Friends Seminary in New York City, where he supports academic leadership, faculty development, and K–12 curriculum innovation, while advancing the school’s commitment to Quaker values, peace, equity, and justice.

Before joining Friends Seminary, Devan was the High School Principal at The American School in London, leading curricular transformation, strategic planning, and community-building in an international context. He previously held leadership roles at Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School in Scarsdale, NY—including Principal and Assistant Principal—and began his administrative career as a House Principal at New Rochelle High School. Earlier in his career, he taught mathematics and coached track and field at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn.

A graduate of Harvard University’s School Leadership program (Ed.M.) and Brown University (A.B. in Economics, Honors in Music), Devan holds New York State SDL and SAS certifications and Massachusetts Principal licensure (K–12).

Devan has presented at numerous forums, including the United Nations Global Educator Worldwide Forum, PoCIS New York, and ARISE Retreat, and has served on the Educational Records Bureau Board of Trustees and as a Governor for Ormiston Academies Trust in the U.K.

An advocate for lifelong learning and collaboration, Devan continues to explore ways to align academic excellence, social responsibility, and human connection within educational communities around the world.
