Why did you join The Leadership Council?
I share the Children’s Village passion for education and believe that it serves as the foundation for establishing attitudes, skills and relationships one needs to become a productive member of society. I see joining the Children’s Village Junior Board as the ultimate payback to those who helped me on my own road to success.
I am incredibly excited to spend time at CV and get to know everyone. My last involvement with Children’s Village was when I was in elementary school and the religious school I attended partnered with Children’s Village for a “Mitzvah” day. If my memory serves me correct, we went to the campus in Dobbs Ferry and spent time painting and chatting with a group of young boys. I remember asking one boy why he was so dressed up to paint and he said, “because I wanted to look nice for people that care about me.” I was incredibly touched and learned first-hand in that moment how meaningful and powerful it can be to lend a hand to others.
Where do you think the LC is headed?
The LC is growing its membership so it can continue to make both financial and personal contributions to CV. Competing in athletics during my childhood, playing soccer at collegiate level and working on Wall Street has fostered certain qualities I am excited to share with the Children’s Village. These life experiences have instilled the values of perseverance, teamwork and empathy and not only taught me self-confidence but also how to encourage and build confidence in others. Further, I will bring an analytical and results-oriented background to the Children’s Village Junior Board that can be applied to finding creative ways to overcome challenges and/or create and implement new programs that support the Children’s Village mission.
What is your favorite LC Event?
Anything that is interactive with the kids at CV from sporting events to holiday parties where I can take the time to form personal relationships.
