How You Can Help

THANK YOU! We have received hundreds of calls and emails asking how you can help the children who have been taken away from their parents at the border. We are incredibly grateful. However, we have received such an outpouring of generosity that we cannot accept donations of physical items at this time.

Here’s an outline of what you can do:

Volunteer. We have been working with a number of local groups who have collected clothing, items for welcome kits, school and art supplies, and much, much more. We are in need of volunteers to help us sort and organize the donations. If you are able to coordinate a group of 5-6 adults to help with sorting, please contact Amy DelliPaoli and she will explain what’s needed and when shifts are scheduled. Because of confidentiality, we cannot accept volunteers to work with the migrant children, but we are always in need of volunteers to work with the children in our domestic foster care program. If that’s of interest, please register to volunteer. To volunteer with foster children, you must be fingerprinted and undergo a background check.

Donate funds. We are not soliciting funds for this program. All the children’s basic needs are being met. However, if you want to sponsor a child to go on a trip to a museum or cultural spot, go bowling or to a movie, that would be wonderful. We estimate that an average trip with transportation, tickets, and a meal would cost about $30. But any amount would be gratefully accepted. Donations can be made here. Indicate in the Comments section whether your gift can be used where we need it most or that it must be used for the migrant children. Either way, thank you!

Please note: The migrant children removed from their families are a small percentage of the unaccompanied minors in our care. Donations will be used for all of these children.

Our Take Action page has links to information about how to volunteer, become a foster parent, and support our programs with a charitable donation. If you would like to learn more about our programs and be alerted should a need for specific items arise, please join our mailing list.
